The Lord tells Abram to go to a land that will be shown to him — the destination deliberately withheld. What is promised instead is mostly about other people: all peoples on earth blessed through him. Genesis records the response in four words.

David finally moves, and the striking thing is that he asks first. Pastor Adam reads 2 Samuel 2 as a man refusing to chase a destiny already promised, with the mandate being only to seek, since revealing belongs to God.

A series on David opens with a death, not a coronation. A man claims credit for killing Saul and expects a reward; David has him executed. Pastor Adam builds the series on that restraint, and on the thirty or so years David spent between anointing and throne.

A series on rest ends by defending work. Pastor Adam takes Proverbs 6 to the ant, separates work from toil by way of Genesis 3 and Colossians 3, and argues that sloth and overwork are two versions of the same refusal to live inside a design.
