Show Me Your Glory” · Glory Revealed Series, Episode 1 April 12, 2026 · Sea Change Church · Pastor Adam Stadtmiller · Exodus 33:18–23

What does it actually mean to experience the glory of God — and when was the last time you asked for it?

That question is the engine of this opening message in the Glory Revealed series. Pastor Adam Stadtmiller anchors the whole three-week arc in Moses’ audacious request from Exodus 33: “Please show me your glory.” God’s response — tuck into the cleft of the rock, I’ll cover you with my hand, you’ll see my back but not my face — gives a picture of the Old Testament’s most fundamental problem: God’s glory was real, but it was rare, restricted, and risky. It took a rope around the ankle of the high priest just to retrieve him if he died in the Holy of Holies.

But that’s only the beginning. Adam traces glory through three movements: revealed at a distance in the Old Testament through cloud, fire, and tabernacle; made personal in the incarnation of Jesus, who literally tabernacled (the Greek word for “dwelt” in John 1:14 is eskēnosin) among his people as the new temple of God’s presence; and now, after the cross, available to be lived in, hosted, and participated in by every believer through the indwelling Holy Spirit.

The big idea: God’s glory is His manifested presence — and in Christ, it is no longer distant to behold, but a life we are invited to participate in. That’s unique to Christianity. No other religious narrative offers a God who wants to share His glory with you, indwell you, and transform you from one degree of glory to another.

Adam draws from his own experience of feeling physically pressed to the ground by God’s weight during a worship night in Mammoth, and closes with two practical moves: become aware of His glory already around you in creation, and stop chasing human glory — start hosting His. The goal is not status or recognition. The goal is to look more and more like Jesus.
