Show Me Your Glory” · Glory Revealed Series, Episode 1 April 12, 2026 · Sea Change Church · Pastor Adam Stadtmiller · Exodus 33:18–23

What does it actually mean to experience the glory of God — and when was the last time you asked for it?

That question is the engine of this opening message in the Glory Revealed series. Pastor Adam Stadtmiller anchors the whole three-week arc in Moses’ audacious request from Exodus 33: “Please show me your glory.” God’s response — tuck into the cleft of the rock, I’ll cover you with my hand, you’ll see my back but not my face — gives a picture of the Old Testament’s most fundamental problem: God’s glory was real, but it was rare, restricted, and risky. It took a rope around the ankle of the high priest just to retrieve him if he died in the Holy of Holies.

But that’s only the beginning. Adam traces glory through three movements: revealed at a distance in the Old Testament through cloud, fire, and tabernacle; made personal in the incarnation of Jesus, who literally tabernacled (the Greek word for “dwelt” in John 1:14 is eskēnosin) among his people as the new temple of God’s presence; and now, after the cross, available to be lived in, hosted, and participated in by every believer through the indwelling Holy Spirit.

The big idea: God’s glory is His manifested presence — and in Christ, it is no longer distant to behold, but a life we are invited to participate in. That’s unique to Christianity. No other religious narrative offers a God who wants to share His glory with you, indwell you, and transform you from one degree of glory to another.

Adam draws from his own experience of feeling physically pressed to the ground by God’s weight during a worship night in Mammoth, and closes with two practical moves: become aware of His glory already around you in creation, and stop chasing human glory — start hosting His. The goal is not status or recognition. The goal is to look more and more like Jesus.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. First service was awesome. Second is going to be even more awesome. I'm Pastor Joe Brandy on staff here. God inhabits the praises of his people, and he loves when his children get together and sing and encourage and sit under his word. And we're going to be celebrating communion at the end of service. And so let us stand as we enter a spirit of worship, and let me pray for the service.

Father God, thank you for you. Thank you for your children. Thank you for your son. Thank you for the Holy Spirit. God, three in one. And you inhabit the praises of your people. And I ask that the things of the world grow strangely dim. Let them be outside this building. Whatever happened this week, whatever happened this morning is gone. And help us step into this space of glory where you reign and where you fill your church.

And we just ask that our worship is pleasing to you. And all God's people said, all right. Amen, church. Let's sing together. Amen, church. 方 has a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and a world and The battle in the grave, the war on death was waged, the power of hell forever broken.

The ground began to shake, the stone was rolled away, his perfect love could not be overcome. Now death, where is your sting? Our resurrected King has rendered you defeated. Forever he is glorified, forever he is lifted high, forever he is risen, he is alive. He is alive. The ground began to shake, the stone was rolled away, his perfect love could not be overcome. Now death, where is your sting? Our resurrected King has rendered you defeated.

Forever he is glorified, forever he is lifted high, forever he is risen, he is alive. Sing it out. He is alive. He is alive. Jesus, we sing hallelujah. We sing hallelujah. We sing hallelujah. We sing hallelujah. The lamb has overcome. We sing hallelujah. We sing hallelujah. We sing hallelujah. The lamb has overcome. And we sing hallelujah. We sing hallelujah. We sing hallelujah. We sing hallelujah. We sing hallelujah.

We sing hallelujah. The lamb has overcome. We sing hallelujah. We sing hallelujah. We sing hallelujah. We sing hallelujah. We sing hallelujah. We sing hallelujah. We sing hallelujah. We sing hallelujah. All right. We sing hallelujah forever. Forever He is glorified. Forever He is lifted high. Forever He is risen. He is alive. He is alive. Amen, amen. Let's sing this chorus together, church. How great is our God. How great is our God.

Sing with me how great is our God. Now we'll see how great, how great is our God. The splendor of the King. Bold in majesty. Let all the earth rejoice. Let all the earth rejoice. He wraps Himself in light. And darkness tries to hide. It trembles at His voice. It trembles at His voice. How great is our God. Sing with me how great is our God. And all will see how great, how great is our God. The day is to age, His snows.

And the time is in His hands. Beginning and the end. Beginning and the end. The God has three in one. The Father, Spirit, Son. The Lion and the Lamb. The Lion and the Lamb. How great is our God. Sing with me how great is our God. Oh, see how great, how great is our God. You're the name above all names. The name above all names. You are worthy. Worthy of all names. And my heart will sing. How great is our God. Let's sing it now, church.

How great is our God. How great is our God. Sing with me how great is our God. I will see how great, how great, how great is our God. There is a sound I love to hear. Praise Him above the heavenly host. Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen. Amen. Amen.

Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Would you bow your heads and pray with me? Amen. Triune God, Father, we come to you this morning. I pray that we will keep all of the outside thoughts just outside this church today, Lord. Pray for a blessing over this sermon and that we will be able to understand exactly what you want us to hear today. It's in your name we pray this, Lord. Amen. Good morning. What a great way to start our Sunday service. Speaking of worship, I want to introduce you to a good friend of the church. This is Bird. You're just a congregant here, but you wanted to get involved in this upcoming event that we have. Can you tell us a little bit about like why you're here and what the event is? Yeah, so welcome everybody to See Change this morning. And I've just, I've been coming here lately and my background is putting on events. I worked with groups like Switchfoot and different artists and just got involved in music and worship and things like that. And so when I heard about this concert, I was really excited. And I hope that through some of these events that you're going to find, you know, your calling as well. So, but this is something that called out to me getting involved in this worship night. Yeah. So tell us a little bit about the night.

We have an insert inside of your bulletins. Okay. If everybody could pull out their bulletin and on the insert, if you want to just pull that out. And I'm going to ask you guys a question first. How many guys ever just get a little bit exhausted with life sometimes that life can just wear you down and you get a little bit exhausted? And I got to say that God has a remedy for that and it's worship. You can either be exhausted or you could worship. And the design for worship is amazing. And so this night is going to be really good. It's a worship night, but it's also a live recording and all the artists are from this church and these are original songs that they've written. And so this is going to be kind of a party with a purpose as well, because we want you guys to invite friends as well. And it's going to be a night of worship. It's free. Anyone that you bring is also, any guests that you bring is going to be free as well. And so it's going to be April 24th at 6 p.m., probably till around 8 p.m., but I'm sure people will linger and it's a great night to also get involved and meet people within the church as well. Yeah. So it's a great way to support our worship arts team. They're going to, they have, like you mentioned, all those brand new songs that they've recorded. We want to support them. We are, it is a live recording, so we'll use that as music videos and things like that as we start to like make Jesus known and push this out to the rest of the community and to San Diego and to hopefully be on that, right? So. Yes. And there's one last thing is that we want you guys to be a part of promoting it. So I'll be outside right after the service. And we're looking for people that would just want to promote it either to friends. We could get you a digital flyer that you can send from your phone or a few extra flyers that if you want to get them out around the neighborhood as well.

But we would love for you to use your gifts. Like I said, it's kind of a party with a purpose and it's a way for you to get involved and you never know who you might invite and just change their life. Yeah. Thanks so much. Thanks, Bird. Okay. He'll be out there at the next steps table. If you guys have any other questions, I'm going to invite Pastor Joshua out here to help me do announcements. Our campus life pastor, how was your weekend, Josh? It's been great. We have been moving.

So yes, getting close to the PB area. Nice. Closer to church. Now we can call anymore. Yeah. Right, right, right. Awesome. Well, what I want to do is welcome our new people that comes to this church. And if this is your first, second time here at C-Change Church, we want to connect with you. We want to, you know, know about you. We want to plug you into some of our small groups. So if you will pull out that bulletin and go to the connection card right there, fill it out, turn it to myself. You could also put it at the GPS box in there and we will get in contact with you and just see how we could support you and pray for you. Yeah. The backside card has a prayer request option too. We really want to partner with you in prayer. Prayer is important to us. It's one of the ways that we worship here, GPS, the P is for prayer. So turn in your praise reports. We love to see those and just celebrate with you, your prayer requests. We want to surround you in prayer with our amazing prayer team. Please turn those in. We also want to let you know at this service, we have Wordly available. So if you or a friend that you've brought or a relative speak another language, they can use our Wordly app by scanning the QR code. There's no app actually. See, I corrected you and then I said it. There's no app.

You literally just scan the code, pick your language from a list of like 200 plus languages and then you're off and running right there on your phone. So please feel free to use that. Let's talk about announcements though. Tell us a little bit about, well, before we get to that, we have the other side of your insert talks about that membership meeting. So I want to let you know if you guys are members here, we had a special meeting that was scheduled for the 19th.

That's being canceled. Okay. We no longer need that meeting. It's not a time sensitive issue any longer, but we are keeping our regular spring meeting, which is on May 24th and that we will give you those updates then. Yeah. So if you remember here, please plan to come to that regular spring meeting. For sure. Now tell us a little bit about the spring group. So we have our spring groups coming up and if you're looking to get involved in a small group, we have a lot of them. You can scan that QR code, but right in your pew, we also have this catalog right there. If you want to take that, take it home, see which group that you would like to be a part of. There's so many different ones for men and women, studying the word. Studies, home fellowships, discipleships. And so the catalogs are, like you said, in your pews, they're at the next steps table. It's online as well. If you want to check out our website. Yes. Yeah. We have an info meeting coming up for one of those groups, our skills group.

And so you've done skills. Yes. Two times. It's really good. I love it. For sure. Yes. And then I leave the women's skills. And so we have an interest meeting coming up because this is a really wonderful program. It is a 12 week commitment though. We want to talk to you about it a little bit. If you want more information, it's definitely worth it. If you want a little bit more information, Pastor Joe Brandy and I will be leading that info night on the, it says the 27th, but I think it's the 20th because it's the 20th. But I will send out an email. We might just do it both nights just for clarity at this point. But pick one of those days. We want to get you the info that you need to run that, to come to the group and join us. So it is limited seating, but I promise you, I've never had anybody come through this course that didn't just absolutely change their lives. And it's really positive. Yeah.

Very Bible based, very science based, really helps you with some of that breakthrough. And then the last announcement we want to let you know about is our media. So you guys have to know what an amazing media team we have. I don't know if you know, like you guys. Let's give a round of applause for our media team real quick. Yes. Yes. They're awesome. Now, one of those amazing team members who is the media director actually had an accident, a not at fault accident. I was asked to let you know. Not his fault. But he was injured. And so he will be out for a little while. And so we have cards. If you guys wouldn't mind signing them just to let him know we're praying for him and thinking about him.

We just want to cover him with love right now. So there's cards at the bookstore, also at the Next Steps table. Feel free to sign one of those. And then just be praying for our... It took probably, I mean, at least a dozen people to cover him this week. So... Big shoes to fill, for sure. Yeah, for sure. Be praying for our media team as well, if you would. But they're doing a great job of absolutely killing it. So thank you so much to our media team. And we're just praying for Jeff. For sure. Lots going on here. Would you pray for our offering? I definitely will.

Thanks, Josh. Well, as you guys know, we have this thing called GPS that is Give, Pray, Serve. And as we just talked about Jeff, we need more people to serve on our media team right now. So if that is you, fill out the bulletin right here. Say you want to volunteer for the media team, and we will get you connected with that. But let's pray for the word. It's such a good word today. So I'm hoping you guys have prepared your hearts and minds for what God is going to speak through Pastor Adam today about. Heavenly Father, we thank you for this day. We thank you, Father God, just to be able to come into your house of praise and worship the Lord God, to give you glory and honor, Heavenly Father. I pray right now, Lord God, that you prepare every mind, every heart to receive the word of today, Lord God. But not also receive, but also apply it to our lives. That way it will bring forth fruit that is pleasing unto you. We thank you for all that you do, and we praise you. For it's in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Well, good morning. Welcome to C-Change Church. Were you guys here for Easter? How epic was Easter? Woo! I left pumped. I left pumped. I was so excited. We are, you know, we're just excited about how we've been growing. God's been just moving here. The baptisms, testimonies, this worship album coming out. Noel has a song on that one as well, and so that's on the 24th. A bird was talking about that. Very excited about what's happening. We're going to be doing a quick three-week series now on the glory of God. I'll tell you why I'm doing it. I got a woman in the church, been here about 10 years, and she, about every, twice a year, she has a prophetic gift, and she just sends me a little email text. Hey, I think God's saying this. Maybe check it out. It's been spot on for like 10 years, and so a few weeks ago, she said, hey, I think this is some things that God has told me, and they were like totally in alignment with what God had said to me, and she said, I think God would want you to do a series on the glory, the glory of God. It's only the second time I've changed my series based on a congregant telling me something, and congregants are free to tell me stuff as much as they want, but usually I get a pretty good sense of the direction we're going, but God began, as I was thinking about it, praying about it, asking the Lord, is that right?

Just glory was everywhere in regard to the books I was reading, the music I was listening to. I just started seeing the glory of God everywhere, so I thought, okay, well, hey, if I'm wrong, can't go wrong with talking about the glory of God, right? So we're going to do that for three weeks. We're going to go throughout the Bible, and then we're going to get back into the Old Testament, back into finishing the Jacob Esau story that we started up, where we had a little bit of a break in between on Easter. I want to give you a resource for this sermon series. A friend of mine wrote an album called Face Down. His name's Matt Redman, and he wrote an album about 20 years ago called Face Down. If you go to Spotify, YouTube, this entire album, I pulled it out this week, and the entire album is about the glory of God. It is a great album, and if you have a chance to list, to read some of the scriptures that I'll be giving you today, and then listen to that album, you'll have a chance to encounter the glory of God, at least through worship in these different ways. So I want to give you that as a resource for the next few weeks as we go through this. Face Down, Matt Redman. If you have your Bibles, Exodus 33, 18 through 23, I want to encourage you to also bring your Bibles to church. I was at a church on Thursday night a couple weeks ago. I went to their Thursday night service up in Oceanside, and he said, who has your Bibles? And I'm not going to make you do this, but everyone holds up their Bibles. They don't put the scripture in the notes, so you'll have to bring your Bible. They don't put the Bibles in the pews, so you have to bring a Bible. So they do all this. I'm not going to do that to you all.

But I want to encourage you, if you don't have a great Bible, go to the bookstore, buy one from Kim, bring the Bible, put your little notes, scribble it up, and make that your own, bring it to church. We're going to start in verse 18 here with the story of Moses wanting to see the glory of God. Verse 18, Moses said, please show me your glory. And he said, I will make all, that's God, I will make all my goodness pass before you, and will proclaim before you my name, the Lord.

And I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will show mercy to whom I shall show mercy. But he said, you cannot see my face, for man shall not see me and live. And the Lord said, behold, there is a place by me where you shall stand on the rock. And while my glory passes by, I will put you in the cleft of the rock. I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by. And then I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back, but you shall not see, but my face shall not be seen.

It's powerful. It's powerful. Moses is asking for something that many Christians, myself included, don't often ask for. We ask for a lot of stuff, right? We've got a big list of stuff we ask for. We ask for hope. We ask for peace. We ask these other things that we ask for. But how often, or when was the last time, you ask God to see or experience his glory? His manifested presence, the weight and the power of who he is.

Let's see if there's an example that we could understand of what it would be like to experience the glory of God. All I could say was, imagine yourself back, and I believe it was the Nevada desert in the 1940s, when they tested the nuclear bomb. And imagine the ability to not be killed, but to stand there six inches from the place where the detonation happens. And when that detonation happens, if you would not die, if you could stand there and experience what would happen in that moment, the power.

They said that the sand and the area was turned to onyx. Do you know how long it takes to turn something into onyx? If you've been to Mammoth, you can see that different onyx. It was turned into onyx because of the heat and the power and just going up to the sky. If you could stand there and witness that, that wouldn't even come close to what it would be like to experience the glory of God. Not even close. It would be a whisper compared to the glory of God.

So you can understand why God says to Moses, which is a great request. This is a great request. It's a righteous request. Not only are you going to be in the cleft of the rock, but when I go by, I'm going to put my hand in front of you and I'm also only going to let you see my back. Now what we're going to see as we go through the glory of God is that there's three revelations of the glory of God. There's the glory of God in the Old Testament, which actually starts with creative revelation.

Creative revelation is the first way we know God. It says that the entire earth is filled with his glory, creation. The stars speak of his glory. Anyway, creative revelation is one of the reasons I wanted to change the name to See Change Church was because it speaks of creative revelation. It has the C in it. And the first way that we know God before he was revealed through Jesus Christ was through creative revelation.

Also, no one could remember the Ohio Christian Fellowship even if you lived next door for 10 years. So that was another reason. Hard to remember. What's the name of your church? You've lived next door for 10 years. Okay. Doesn't happen anymore. And so we see that there is this revelation and God is shown in the Old Testament. Then he, Jesus comes and we see that Jesus is another form of God's glory and revelation. And then after that we have the glory of God which can indwell within us.

Here's your big idea for the day that we're going to look at. God's glory is his manifested presence. It's a tangible manifested presence. And in Christ it is no longer distant to behold. But a life where we are invited to participate in. This is really powerful and unique. Unique to any other religious narrative. You have, whether it's Thor of the Vikings or the gods of the Hindus or any other. There is no religious narrative that says God wants to share his glory with you.

That the glory will indwell you. And we get to participate in the glory of God. You have two key words today. We'll get to the one, the main key word. But I added one since I sent the notes to be edited. And the word I want to give you is participate. If you want to write that in your notes, participate. Participate on the top of your notes. Because God has called us to participate. Not just to behold his glory. As we're going to see as we get to the third revelation of his glory.

Which is the Holy Spirit within us. That you're not just called to behold. It's meant to indwell you. And you participate with the glory. And you become glorious. Not because of anything you've done. But because of his glory within you. Imagine if when that nuclear bomb went off. And you were there in the desert. If you could harvest some of the power. I won't say glory. It's probably the wrong word. But the power of that moment.

Have that nuclear energy indwell you. And experience what it would feel like. It would be like something out of a Marvel movie, right? And you click the fingers, right? Whatever it is. That is what God offers. That's participate. The key word actually for the day. The real key word of the sermon. Is glory. Glory. And there's two words. There's kabod. And I said that like a good Hebrew. Of Moses' time. Kabod. Kabod is the glory of God.

And the Greek word is doxa. Doxa. In some form or other. In the scripture. The word glory is mentioned 338 times in the Old Testament. 143 times in the New Testament. Do your math. Somewhere near 500. 500 times. The word glory. Is mentioned in the Bible. It is something that we need to be aware of. Not just reminiscent of. But something we should press into. Now I will say when it comes to glory. Glory is something you're meant to experience.

And I said participate in. I thought well how's that going to happen? And then I felt like the Lord reminded me. Reminded me and said well. You're pretty good at experiencing fear. You know what that feels like? You all know what that feels like? Some fear? We all know what that feels like. A little worry? How's it feel? You feel it in your body right? A little sadness. A little melancholy. Maybe joy. Maybe happiness.

But how often have we plumbed the depths. Of God's glory. And this is something that if you ask for. And I'm going to give you a pattern. Of how we prepare ourselves. For his glory. That he will move you. From one degree of glory to another. We'll see that verse. At the end of the message. Chabad. I just love saying it. Chabad. So. Daxa. Glory is the weight of. Who God is. Is the weight of God. Made visible. The glory.

If you can say glory in any way. It is a weight. It is a presence. That seems like a weight. Here's your three points for the day. One. Glory is revealed. In the Old Testament. Two. Glory is made known. Not just revealed. Made known. In the New Testament. Through Jesus Christ. And three. Glory is participated now. In Jesus. After the cross. It's participating. In glory. And it is very different. Than the glory we see in the world.

I will assure you. And if you're old enough. The older you get. The more you know this. All human glory fades. Whether you are the Roman Empire. Whether you are the creator of the internet. Like Al Gore. Just kidding. Whether. That was kind of funny. Just playing. Whether you're. As I was saying it. I thought. Don't say it. Yeah. Say it. Whether. Whether you're Steve Jobs. Whether you're Michael Jordan. Whether you're Tiger Woods.

Whether you're any human being. Any human accomplishment. All glory fades. Now. I like Michael Jordan. I'm a big Michael Jordan fan. But here's what I know about Michael Jordan. And I have no shade to put on that guy. That the glory he experiences. As the goat. The greatest of all time. And people telling him. You're the greatest of all time. Will never compare. To a game six. Championship. With the trophy in his hand.

And the champagne popping. For the hour and a half. They were in that room. Celebrating. Whatever he's had after that. Will never compare. I was at the U.S. Open. When Tiger won. Remember that one? At the U.S. Open. No remember that? What was that doing? Well that's when he did this. After he hit the putt. You guys remember that? Okay. I was there. Nonetheless. It didn't seem like we connected on that point. Did we? All that glory passes.

But the glory of God. Is eternal and sustains. And if you want to have glory. We're not chasing anything. Because it all fades. If we're chasing anything. It's the glory of God. And how important is the glory. Of God to you. Here's number one. Glory is revealed in the Old Testament. Moses asked. Go to verse 18. Moses said. Great request. Put this in your prayer list. Please. Ooh. I love the please. Very polite Moses.

Please show me your glory. Show me your glory. And God says. Go to verse 19. And God. He said. I will make my goodness. Pass before you. And I will proclaim before you. My name. The Lord. And I will be gracious. To whom I am. I will be gracious. And show mercy. To whom I will show mercy. The glory of God. You can see. Comes along. With one. Goodness. One of the ways. To experience. God's. Good. Glory. Is to have a life.

Of piety. And holiness. You're going to see through. This Old Testament message. That the priest. Would experience the glory. Moses. When they would go into the tabernacle. They had to be purified. There's all these purification rituals. There's one purification ritual right now. Jesus. Forgive me of my sins. Boom. You are sprinkled with the blood. And washed clean. No matter what you did. Back then. Clean your hands.

Wash your hair. Put on. You know. Whatever you need. The garments. And do all this. I don't want to say it. It's rigmarole. Ritual. And then you could experience. The glory of God. Because it has to do with holiness. And one of the best ways. You're going to see. That when we have unrighteousness in our lives. It is a roadblock to God's holiness. And so goodness will pass before you. You see grace involved in that. Mercy will be shown.

God will give us those things. He says it will pass before you. Glory is God's nature. And character on display. If God were to say. I'm amazing. I'm awesome. I you know. There's nothing like me in the universe. It would not be prideful. Why? Because it's true. It's a true reflection of his character. Of who he is. It is just speaking the truth of who he is. When we do something amazing. And we say I'm amazing. I'm awesome.

It's lie. Why? Because any good thing we have. Has been given to us by the father. You have nothing in your own. Every breath the scripture says. That you breathe. Is a gift from God. It is not true. So when God. He magnifies. He glorifies himself. Jesus glorifies God through his actions. And one of the things you can do. To experience and participate in his glory. Is to glorify him. In your actions. In the way you speak.

So it is God's nature. Character on display. And like I said a little bit ago. It comes as a weight. Now I was. I've experienced. For one reason or another. God has chosen to allow me to experience his glory. In different forms. But the weight of his glory. And that same thing happened to me twice. But one time I was in Mammoth. And I was at a men's gathering. About 15 of us went to go. And just spend the weekend with the Lord.

And ski. And snowboard. Whatever it was. And so when we were there. We had a worship night. And it just went deeper into worship. Deeper. Guys were just confessing sin. The room. You could just feel the presence of God. It was just getting thick with his presence. And you get to the point where you're like. I just want to give you everything Lord. You're submitting. And all of a sudden. I started feeling this presence.

As if somebody was on my shoulders. Pushing me to the ground. And there was a weight and a heaviness. So the next thing I know. I was almost somewhat in a fetal position on the couch. Just feeling like if someone was up. Like on the pew right. On the pulpit right now. Pushing me down into the couch. It started freaking me out. But not in a fearful way. But I thought I'm going to die. I'm going to be crushed by God. And I kind of thought that was a funny thought at the moment.

Which you know. So I jumped behind the couch. Like the couch is going to save me. You know what I mean. And I got between the wall and the couch. And I got on my hands and knees. And I hung out there for a while. And I just kept feeling it pressing me. Pressing me. So I ran outside. And I was wearing shorts. And like a t-shirt or something. And it was 26 degrees outside. And I thought. Freezing. You know. I stayed out there for a moment.

And I went back in. And it was still pretty heavy when I got back in. But it wasn't the same. I kind of. You know. I don't know why I ran from it. But it was too much. Now in the Old Testament scriptures. There's a bunch of different places where this happens. And for your study. I want you to study along with me. We need to be studying through the scriptures together. I can't. You know. With 500 references to glory.

You've got a rabbit hole. That you can go chase. But I'm going to give you a few. Exodus 40. The temple is filled. With God's glory. And then in 1 Kings chapter 8. You can write that. 1 Kings 8. The temple is filled. After Solomon builds the temple. And it says in 1 Kings 8. That the priest. Could not stand before the Lord. Now I don't know what that means. Did they experience what I experienced? But they couldn't stand before the Lord.

And it said not only could they not stand. The glory of God was so powerful. They couldn't even minister before the Lord. They experienced this glory. And this presence that was there. It's also in Ezekiel 43. And then when they were in the wilderness. You can see another time. The glory of God. Before they had the tabernacle. It would come. In Exodus 13. 21. Actually I'm not sure if they had the tabernacle at that point.

But in Exodus 13. 21. The cloud would come by day. And fire by night. This was God's presence. And so glory. If God shows up. His glory will be there. You'll often experience this in worship. You can experience this in creation. You can experience this as you walk with the Lord. But most of the time I've experienced. It's when I've slowed my life down enough. To focus and behold. And try to behold the glory of God. And also I think that prayer.

God show me your glory. Is a prayer that we need to be praying. But a prayer I find a bit terrifying. I keep calling myself out. So I'm surprised anybody comes back. Over and over again. But I tend to think. When I ask God to show me his glory. One. It's going to cost me a lot. Of things I don't want to spend. Or give away. And number two. He's going to have to do something. Really negative and hard in my life. And kind of take me to some gnarly season.

And then I'll experience his glory that way. And so I find myself like hesitant to ask this. This week. I began to decide. I just need to jump. And even if I don't mean it. I say God. Even if I don't mean it. I want to see your glory. As I listened to the album by Matt Redman. This week. That whole album about glory. It began to put me in touch. Once again with that. And decide that I want to experience God's glory. Do you want.

Let me. I'll just ask you. Don't raise your hand. Don't call yourself out. Do you want. God's glory. Do you want to experience. What that looks like. So we see that in those. In those different places. The Hebrew mind saw glory. As a localized presence. It was God dwelling among his people. But the access was restricted. First of all. It was only Moses. And it was a partial glimpse. It was only the priest. And it was mediated access.

So you couldn't get it. The priest would tell you about it. Or when they had this thing called the Shekinah glory of God. Moses would go hang out with God. His face would be shining with God's glory. So he'd have to put a veil over it. And then it wouldn't you know hurt the people. I don't know what it would have done to the people. But he had to walk through with that. So it was a mediated access. And the high priest could only go once a year into the holy of holies.

So in the Old Testament the glory was real. But it was rare. It was restricted. And it was risky. If you did not have all your rituals done correctly. If you had sin in your heart. And you went in to stand before his glory. It would kill you. So in order to alleviate this. And not having a foul smell in the tabernacle. After some you know priest went in when he shouldn't. They would put a rope around the priest. Now how would you feel.

It's like going off a mountain. You know what I mean. Now buckle me in. Here I go. And then if he died. They would kind of just pull on the leash. You know a little bit. And if he felt a tug back. Then they wouldn't pull. Eventually if he died. They would just pull him back. From this. That is how it was in the Old Testament. The second thing we see is in the New Testament. This is it. Glory is made known through Jesus Christ.

And how is that? John 1 14 says the word what? Became flesh. And it dwelt. Tabernacled is the word. It dwelt among us. Eschaosin is the. He is the Greek word. For dwelling among us. Jesus tabernacled among us. And at that time. We were not the tabernacle. The temple of God. Jesus came. As that tabernacle. And he walked among us. Now you're going to see. In probably next week. Or the week after. In the third week. When I speak on the transfiguration.

There's nine hills. That they are sure of. In Israel. 100% sure that it might be. Where Jesus was transfigured. That's like everything in Israel. Right? We are 100% sure. That this is possibly. One of the 38 places. Where this actually happened. There's like. Very. There's a handful. They have this one place. They know Jesus stood. It's like at this one spot. So I went and stood there. I'm like okay. Yes. And so we're going to talk about.

That transfiguration. In that transfiguration. Jesus glory. Is revealed. To some of the disciples. Right? And in that moment. We see that. Well we can. Not only. See that now. You can say. Well I would love that. And God. He might give you that experience. He might not. But if you were to ask. You know. Peter then. Would you rather have the experience. Of Jesus showing up transfigured. In front of you every day. Or would you rather have the presence.

Of his glory. Live within you. But you're maybe not going to see. The bright. Bright shining glory. Which would you choose? Obviously. You choose. Door number two. Because you become the tabernacle. And now the very presence of God. Like you're going to see in Exodus 40. First Kings 8. Ezekiel 43. Now. Dwells and fills you. This is why people have these. And this happens on Pentecost. Which is going to happen in what.

I think it's 43 days from now. Or something like that. 42 days. 43. Pentecost is when the Holy Spirit. Comes upon the disciples. And then he not only tabernacles among us. He tabernacles within us. But in this place. The glory of God is made known. And so now glory goes from far away. The nature of God. To being someone who walks among us. To now point three. The glory is to be participated in. As it lives and dwells within you.

So we see that. We see that. That you know. Moses saw God's back. We see the face of Christ. And that verse for that is. Second Corinthians 4. 6. Now. Like I said. The glory. After the cross. We have this. Shown in. Second Corinthians 3. 18. And there's no. Other place in the scripture. That I think illustrates. This. Steps of personal participation. In the glory of God. That says it as well as this verse. If you can memorize a verse.

Write it up on your fridge. Put it up on the wall. And I want to encourage you. I've stopped doing that as much. And I'm reminding myself. And my wife who's here as well. We need to start getting scriptures up. More in our house. Again. Because it was a big thing. Back in the day. Second Corinthians 3. 18. Now as I read this. You're going to see the systematic theology. That I just walked you through. From the Old Testament understanding.

From the creative revelation. To Jesus being the one. That tabernacled among us. To you participating in it. You're going to actually see what I just said to you. And then the final step of that. In this passage. And it comes very clear. It says this. And we all. With what? Unveiled faces. Beholding the glory of the Lord. Are what? Are being transformed. Into the same image. From one degree of glory. To another. For this comes from the Lord.

That's Jesus. Who is the spirit. And that's the Holy Spirit. As well. You're going to become what you behold. Let's just break this down. This passage is nuts. Right? This is going to like change your mind. As you read through this. And we all. Some of us. Is it just Pastor Joe. Chris the worship leader. And a couple. You know. People in the congregation. That are super holy. No. We all. With unveiled. When I said Chris super holy.

You laughed. That's Chris laughing. And we all. With unveiled faces. Beholding what? The glory. You want to. How do you behold the glory? Put your eyes on Jesus. When you put your eyes on Jesus. How do we do that? We do that in worship. We do that in scripture. We do that in meditation. We do that on trying to become like him. When we are becoming like Jesus. We are beholding his image. This is one thing Catholics are really good at.

Right? They have a lot of time where they sit. I grew up Catholic. So I get it. I have a lot of Catholic friends. A lot of my family is still Catholic. One of the things that they really do well. Is sit quietly before the cross. And before communion. And they will sit there and just meditate on Jesus. The broken body of Jesus. They are really good at it. Whether you agree with all the theological implications of that.

The practice of sitting before the cross. And just take the cross of Jesus. We have holding crosses out there. You can buy at the bookstore. And meditate on a scripture about Jesus. His glory will be made known to you. That is one of the ways we understand his glory. So we are beholding the glory of what? Of the Lord. And now being transformed into an image that is kind of like it. No. No. Bruh. Let me translate that.

Friends. The Bible says that you are being transformed into the same image of glory. That God reveals in the heavens. And revealed to Moses. As we become like his son. When you get to heaven. Then we are never going to be God. Some people don't understand that. When you get to heaven you are not going to be all knowing. You are going to continue to learn. That glory. You are going to keep beholding more and more glory.

He is going to like check this glory out for a million years. And he is like. You can check that one out for a million years. Let me just show you what the color blue means for six million years. You will be like. Whoa. The meaning behind blue. I am not kidding. Everything he made. In Romans it says that. Everything he made has a reason. And it is eternal. Right? The glory of all of his nature. He says he shares it with you.

Who shares their glory? Right? I don't remember too many champions. I mean. You slap high five to somebody on your team who did well or whatever. But how many of them say. Hey. These trophies. I am going to give them to this person as well. You know. They don't. You don't really share glory much. You see it on occasion. God himself wants to share his glory with you. And transform you into that same image. And that can start happening now.

And you will be transformed from one degree to another. I realized that when it came to chasing after God's glory. Which is something I was trying to do in the early to mid 2000s. And I've kind of. Other things I've moved on to. Whatever. For some reason I just realized I'm not doing it the same way that I did. And I want to get back to where I'm going after. I want the presence of God. I want the glory of God. On April 24th in a couple weeks.

A couple Friday nights from now. We're going to have a worship night. And I'm praying. And I'm asking you guys to fast. You know. A little bit. One day a week. If you would. For the next two weeks. That we can ask that God's glory descends upon this worship area. And upon this sanctuary. In a powerful way. And that you'll be a part. And experience that. It says. We are being transformed from one degree to another. And God wants to bring you back.

To moving you to understand his glory. However he chooses. Now he might not put the weight. Like he did with me. That was just my experience. He might give you a completely different experience. I know a lot of people in our church have dreams. I don't really get dreams. Unless something's chasing me. And I don't like them. Right? I have other people who just have these incredible dreams. I heard a story of a child at our church.

The night before Easter. I just. Someone texted it to me. I had a dream that Jesus came and had a diamond. And gave him a diamond. And put it inside. I think it was in his heart. I have to bring it back. But just gave him a diamond. And the whole family came to church. Because the kid got up and said I had a dream about Jesus. I just got a text about that this week. I don't know all the details. People have different ways.

Right? That God reveals himself to them. But we want to chase the glory. We want to go after the glory that we might behold it. And it says. It says from one degree of glory to another. And then in closing. For this comes from the Lord. Who is the spirit. Who does that come from? From Jesus Christ. Christ. And now the systematic theology of that. The spirit that lives within you. Because now you are the what? The temple of God.

When you receive Jesus. Now that tabernacle that was in the tabernacle. His presence. That became Jesus walking amongst us. Now lives within you. The very presence of God is there within you. Here's your practical takeaways. One. Become aware of the glory around you. Creative revelation. Romans 1. 20. One of my favorite verses. For his invisible qualities. His divine attributes. Have been clearly perceived. Ever since the creation of the world.

In these things that have been made known. And so one of the things you do. Is just get in creation. It says that in Isaiah 6.3. The whole earth is full of his glory. I'm going to tell you. I don't experience a ton of glory on this. Occasionally. Listen to some music. Get a good meme. But God is saying. Touch some grass. Right? If you want to experience God. Get in his creation. This is the first revelation. Begin to praise him for his creation.

God thank you for this. Thank you for the ocean. Thank you for the bay. Thank you for the mountains. Thank you for the rain that just fell. And cleared everyone out of the outside seating area. The whole earth is full of his glory. Get in touch with his glory and thank him. Ask him for his glory. And then final. Stop chasing glory. Start hosting it. Ask where is God's presence increasing in me. That's the goal. To look more like Jesus.

To be more like Jesus. Where is God's presence increasing in me. Ask yourself where is he going. What is he doing. What is he saying. I don't want to be anywhere that he isn't going to be. Glory. And we all chase glory in one way or another. We just care so much about what everybody thinks. What they think about how we look. What they think about how we do. What we do. How we move up the chain. Where we fit in the social rankings.

Things. I don't care. Who you are. If you went to the moon. The conversations you're having. About going to the moon. Are never as good as when you were on the moon. The older you get. The more you're going to know this. Trust me. Because nothing fades. Like youthful glory. Right. I'm only 56. I've seen the light. With that. I'm going to ask Joe to come up and lead us into communion. Let's stand if you would. Awesome.

Good word. Pastor Adam. The helpers can come up. A couple of things. Thinking of a sermon. In the Hebrew word he said. Kabod. Means heaviness. Or weightiness. When Jesus' family and people come together. And we take communion. Like his disciples he gathered on Passover. We experience his weightiness. His glory. Doxa in the New Testament. Radiance and splendor. Where we have a God that was filled. With glory. And then he chose to be born of the virgin.

And to live a perfect life. And to die a death. To show his splendor. And his glory. Just like God passed before Moses. And showed him his glory. God shows us his glory. That he loves us so much. His son died for us. If you were a believer. If you put your personal trust in Jesus. This is a family meal. If you've not put your faith in him. Then we'd ask you to receive prayer. From the prayer team. And then also before we take it together.

Is it says examine yourself. So maybe there's something you need to repent of. Confess. Let go. Jesus. The Lord Jesus. On the night of his arrest. He took bread. And after giving thanks to God. He broke it. And he gave it to his disciples. Saying take and eat. This is my body. Given for you. Do this. In remembrance. In remembrance of me. And in the same way. He took the cup. Saying this cup. Is the new covenant. Sealed in my blood.

Shed for you. For the forgiveness of sins. And whenever you drink it. Do this. In remembrance of me. Every time you eat this bread. And drink this cup. You proclaim the saving death. Of the risen Lord. Until he comes. If you want to remember him. And feast upon him. Let's come up and receive. Amen. Amen. God bless. For the Lord. What can wash away my sin. Nothing but the blood of Jesus. What can make me whole again. Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Amen. Human. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. . . . . . Oh, precious is the love that makes me white as snow. Oh, no one has found a title, nothing but the blood of Jesus. For my part of this I see, nothing but the blood of Jesus. For my cleansing this my plea, nothing but the blood of Jesus. Oh, precious is the love that makes me white as snow. Oh, no one has found a title, nothing but the blood of Jesus. Nothing cared for sin at all, nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Oh, no one has found a title, nothing but the blood of Jesus. Oh, precious is the love that makes me white as snow. Oh, no one has found a title, nothing but the blood of Jesus. Oh, precious is the love that makes me white as snow. Oh, no one has found a title, nothing, no, nothing, no, nothing, no. Nothing but the blood. Oh, nothing, no. Our God is so filled with love. He loves you so much. He's stepped out of his glory to die for you, to live for you, to rise for you.

And when you receive the Holy Spirit, you'll start to experience his glory. And someday in the new heavens, new earth, we'll see him face to face. And the whole world will be filled with glory. Jesus says, take and eat. This is my body given for you. Do this in remembrance of me. Let us eat together. Amen. And then he says, whenever you drink this cup, do this in remembrance of me. Let us drink together. Gracious God, may we who have received this sacrament live in the unity of your Holy Spirit, that we may show forth your gifts to all the world.

We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ and all God's people said. Amen. Let us stand and recite and pray the Lord's Prayer together. And then Pastor Adam will give a blessing after that. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who have trespassed against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Amen. Thank you, Joe. If we have a prayer team, we'd come forward. Hey, if you need prayer, a couple reasons. If you just say, I just need to, I got some stuff in my life. I want to just repent. I want to ask Jesus to come into my heart. I want to be baptized. Come forward. They're going to pray for you, pray with you. Pastors will be up here as well.

If you need healing in anything, we want to pray for healing. We believe in divine healing. If you need to be filled with the Holy Spirit, we ask that God would fill you and just be touched by his presence. If you just want a touch of his glory, come forward. We want to pray for you. And so I'm looking for a prayer team. I think they're going to get here soon. There they are. Oh, our head elder is there. He'll pray for you as well.

There's Ron. So if you extend your hands, we want to bless you. Lord Jesus, just first of all, before I do that, just ask the Lord, show me your glory. Please. That's how Moses said it. Please show me your glory. Where I might be hesitant, as he would just remove the hesitancy, the latency, show me your glory. And then as a congregation, God, show us your glory. I ask on the 24th, your glory would descend upon this brick and mortar temple, but in our hearts as well.

Lord, there's more of you. Just take a sec. Just say more of you. Just in your own hearts. Just say more of you. More of you. Behold your glory. Just want to behold your glory. Forgive us, God. We've sinned. We walk away. We run from your glory for our own devices. Now, I bless your people. I bless your people with your presence. I bless that you would indwell them, Lord Jesus. That you would make your glory known. And I pray, God, that you would move them to the next degree of transformation, myself included.

The next degree of transformation to become the same image of glory. So I send them out with that verse over their heads as a shelter for them. And the devil's lies be put to hell, be put to death. We just bless you with sleep this week. We bless you with relational harmony this week. With wisdom this week. With the presence of God through the scripture. We send you out now in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen. We love you guys. Come forward for prayer. We'll see you next week.
