MAY 03 2026 | Genesis S5E6 – Deceived By What You Perceived
Scripture: Genesis 27:1–13
Genesis 27 opens with four people — Isaac, Rebekah, Esau, and Jacob — each operating from a distorted perception of reality. Isaac’s physical blindness had become spiritual vulnerability. Rebekah knew God’s promise but took matters into her own hands. Esau had spent years despising the very inheritance he was about to lose. And Jacob, who already held the promise, felt he had to secure it through deception rather than trust.
The sermon’s central warning is simple and sharp: deception doesn’t look wrong. It looks right. Each character in this story had a reason that made sense to them. That’s what made it so dangerous.
This message challenges listeners to examine the places where feelings have quietly replaced truth — where something has been justified because it felt right, seemed logical, or appeared to be working — and to return to God’s word as the anchor for perception.
