Book: Jonah

Scripture: Jonah 3
The word of the Lord comes to Jonah a second time, and Pastor Adam builds this message on what that second time costs and what it makes possible. Jonah 3 is the chapter where the reluctant prophet finally walks into Nineveh, and where a city the size of a three day journey turns around in response to a single sentence of warning.
The message leans on the word if. Pastor Adam calls it a pesky word in the Bible, the hinge on which a great deal of blessing turns, and works through why a loving God would attach conditions to anything at all. The answer the message gives is not about God withholding but about obedience being the mechanism through which the blessing arrives.
A second thread runs alongside it. Nobody knows in advance who will repent, which makes the decision to stay silent a decision about someone else's outcome. Nineveh repents from the king down to the livestock, and the point is that Jonah could not possibly have predicted it and nearly refused to find out.
The closing question is put plainly rather than rhetorically: perhaps you have an obedience problem, and if so, what has that already cost. Pastor Adam frames disobedience as the thing that makes a person food for whales, and much of the trouble in a life as self-inflicted in exactly that way.
This is the third message in UberWhale: A Deep Dive Into The Life Of Jonah.
Key topics:
- "If" as the hinge of conditional blessing, and why obedience is the mechanism rather than the price
- Never knowing in advance who will repent, and what silence decides for someone else
- Naming an obedience problem, and the trouble it has already caused

My name is Lori Ellis and Adam calls us part of the originals and that cute guitar player, he's mine. Just saying. Then in the word of the Lord came to Jonah. This is Jonah 3. Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time. Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you. Jonah obeyed the word of the Lord and went to Nineveh. Now Nineveh was a very large city. It took three days to go through it.
Jonah began by going a day's journey into the city proclaiming 40 more days and Nineveh will be overthrown. The Ninevites believed God. A fast was proclaimed and all of them from the greatest to the least put on sackcloth. When Jonah's warning reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from the throne, took off his royal robes, covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust. This is the proclamation he issued in Nineveh.
By the decree of the king and his nobles, do not let people or animals, herds or flocks taste anything. Do not let them eat or drink, but let people and animals be covered with sackcloth. Let everyone call urgently on God. Let them give up their evil ways and their violence. Who knows? God may yet relent and with compassion turn his fierce anger so that no one will perish. When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not bring on them the destruction he had threatened.
Blessed be the word of the Lord. Right on. Thanks, Lori. The originals are those that were here that hired me. The originals that were here. So if you're not a member of the originals, you're the new originals. So that's a little joke right there. They'll play on words. New originals. You can't really be a... Okay, nonetheless. Just going to stare at you. Just going to stare at you today. Come on, impress us. Okay. Let's pray.
Lord Jesus, I want to thank you, God, for what you're doing and how you love us and how your love casts out all fear. We thank you for this story, this archetypal story of Jonah in the belly of the whale. And, Lord, we know that we oftentimes feel like we're in the belly of the whale, but we want to thrive and succeed, God. As you oftentimes will spit us out into our destiny. And, Lord, we want to clear away the cobwebs, clear away the seaweed today, and stand on the beach anew and renewed.
In Jesus' name. Amen. So Jonah has a Nineveh problem. Jonah doesn't like the Ninevites. And he doesn't want to share the love of God with them because he doesn't want to share his inheritance with them. He doesn't want to share eternity with them. He just doesn't want to share his God with them. And so this is an issue for Jonah. And so Jonah has disobeyed the Lord. And it's interesting because he's not disobeying the Lord in regard to, hey, you know, I don't want you partying on Friday nights.
I need you to get out of PB. You know what I mean? I don't want you there on Friday. Some people are, like, relating right now. It isn't that kind of disobedience. It's the kind of disobedience where, hey, I want you to share my love with people through a message of repentance, through a message of sharing that destruction is coming on them if they don't turn towards me. And he is not willing to do it. And it begs the question, I think, for us as well, is if we aren't sharing the gospel with people.
And I'm not saying we do it the way Jonah did, right? So Jonah basically puts a billboard on himself, walks around and says, 40 days until you have destruction. I mean, the church has tried that for a long time. It hasn't worked great. I would say alpha is probably a better way to do it. But if you're not sharing the gospel with somebody, if you're not intentionally telling people about God's love, if you're not strategically thinking, how do I share the love of God with this person?
The question, there's no shame, but the question is why? Why are you not sharing the love of God with people? And is it a laissez-faire type of evangelistic practice that you have? I know that I believe that the church made a pretty serious error in the 1980s by moving to, or mostly in the 90s. I remember being discipled in the 90s that evangelism kind of became this. Hey, if I'm just hanging out having coffee with somebody, which is important, and have no thinking about strategically how I'm sharing the love of God with them, if we're just hanging out, that's like a form of pre-evangelism.
But you never know how to close the deal. One of the things I was talking with Harry about, our high school pastor, I texted him this week. I said, bro, you're a UFC fighter. You know how to close the deal. He is, I don't know if you know, but he was like this California, like, taekwondo champion. He has gold medals everywhere. Don't fight Harry. I know that he can beat me up, okay? And I said, when it comes to being a pastor, and I said, when it comes to being a pastor, I said, I want you to develop that killer instinct.
I want you to develop a knockout punch where that you know how to close the deal. And I said, I believe that God has taught you how to fight and allowed this entire upbringing. Because when you're in the ring, you're an animal. Now, I've made him get out of the ring. I haven't made him, but I've encouraged him not to do that because he doesn't want any more blows to the head, okay? But I said, you know how to finish the deal.
And I said, when it comes to pastoring, you want to do the same thing. When it comes to sharing God's love, how do we not just stay in this area where we're not sharing the love of God, but we're kind of just hanging out with people, and they don't really even know you're a Christian. I mean, that's okay. I believe strategically that's okay for a while. But at some point, there has to be a time where you share with them the love of God, or at least are waiting for that opportunity.
So my question is, if you're not, why? And who are you strategically sharing with? Because the final thing that Jesus said was go into all the world and make what? Disciples. Disciples are a post-conversion issue. And so, once again, the question, you know, to me as well, because, you know, I want to make sure I'm doing this in my own personal life, is when was the last time someone came to a full salvific knowledge of Jesus because of you?
I mean, you know, this is not a guilt thing. But when was the last time somebody that you know that someone, you know, well, I don't have the gift of evangelism. Well, we all might not have the gift of evangelism, but we all have the calling to evangelism. And so, I want to set this narrative up in eternity. I want to say that there is an eternity to be have, an eternity of God's love, and that perhaps you have a Nineveh problem.
But it isn't for the same reasons that Jonah had a Nineveh problem. You don't have to be a missionary like Carmen. You don't have to have the gift of evangelism like Chris Peterson, where you're just, you know, constantly thinking about that. But are you sharing God's salvific love? Not just sharing the love of God and hoping it translates, but at some time saying, Jesus died on the cross for your sins. Do we have the ability to do that these days?
There's two movies, as I set up the message today, that I want to, or excuse me, novels that I brought up. They were made into movies. But the first one that I think has to do, and both of these have to do with setting the story for Jonah today. First one, it's not in your notes, but I left you a place in your notes, was The Adventures of Pinocchio, 1883, by Carlo Collodi. And if you know the story of Pinocchio, I started realizing how similar Pinocchio's journey is.
It was made into a movie, I think, in 1931. How similar Pinocchio's story is to the story of Jonah. He ends up with Monstro, right, in the belly of the whale. And it is in the belly of the whale that he finds who he's been looking for. Does anybody know who he's looking for? His father. And in the belly of the whale, he finds his father. And how often we find the love of God, we find the love of a father when we are in the belly of the whale.
I said last week that distress, that difficulty, is an elite prayer factory. And I want to say that difficulties, tribulations, and trials, God wants to leverage because it is an elite factory for knowing God's love for you. It's so easy to run for that. So as I read and looked through Pinocchio, the other thing I realized is that he was a boy that wanted to be real. He was a puppet who wanted to be real. And I guess one of the questions we have in society, and the same thing that Pilate asked Jesus, in regard to what is truth, we would ask, what is real?
Do you feel like you're living a real life? Or is our life so full of puppet strings to all the different little things we use to satiate ourselves so we don't slow down? Do we find ourselves attached to those things where you become just a puppet to your addictions, a puppet to your desires, a puppet to your opinions? You see something that triggers you, and all of a sudden, you just dance to that puppet, to those puppet strings.
Pinocchio became real by cutting the strings. I want to say that God wants to cut the strings and ask you, are you going to be a child of God or a puppet on strings? And we see that he had to go, that Pinocchio had to go into the depth. He had to go into the belly of the whale, and there he found his father. And he was vomited out, as you remember, not onto the beach, but he was vomited out in the story, back with his father, and out into his true destiny.
That's the story of Jonah. That's the story of you. And God was using an imperfect vessel, perhaps one of the worst people you would ever call to lead a revival, to turn people's hearts. I want to say I love the response of the Ninevites. If you were to go, that's modern-day Mosul in Iraq right now. If you were to go and to study what that they were into and what they were doing, they were worshiping a fish god, which is really interesting.
They had things in those days like child sacrifice, different things that would happen in the society, and God's love said, I am not willing for them to be lost. Oh, the love of God. We want to speak about the love of God, about God's unlimited love that will come to anybody if they are willing to turn and accept his love. That was what I found in Pinocchio. Then I was up at our cabin. I took a couple days away to go vision, went to Carrie's parents' cabin in Big Bear this week and sought the Lord.
I saw the novel, The Godfather, up on the bookshelf. So, dug into Mario Puzo's 1969 classic, The Godfather. I actually thought it was kind of fun. I named the sermon after it, after I started reading through it. Because one of the things that The Godfather always says, right? And it's interesting because you have this, once again, this powerful archetypal father who's trying to have his power and consolidate power. Then he has a family thing going on.
And one of the things, in order to get his way, he does something that is very unlike God. He forces his desire and will upon people. And he says, on a regular basis, I'm going to make them an offer they can't refuse. Now, that wasn't a very good Marlon Brando. That wasn't too bad. I didn't even try, really. I'm going to make them an offer. And then Pacino says it later on in the movie, I'm going to make them an offer they can't refuse.
You know what's so strange about our God? God, he makes you an offer that you can refuse. And we have the ability to refuse the love of God. We have the ability to refuse God. And you know what? He will allow tribulations. He will send storms into our life, but he will also send whales to rescue us. Because once again, from chapter one, the storm was sent, but the whale was, and remember the word? Provided. That's right.
That the whale was provided. And God will do everything in his power to allow you the opportunity to experience the eternal love of God. But to experience it in this moment. You don't have to wait for heaven to experience the love of God. The question is, and the condition is, are you willing to accept the love of God? Or are you content being a puppet on a string? I realize I have, you know, as I was talking about the 31 kings in Joshua today, that I oftentimes, you know, have these strings.
I want to cut every string. I want to run like a real boy. I want to be like Pinocchio. You know what I mean? Be able to be real. Be able to feel what it feels like to be alive. To have John 10.10 abundant life. To know the Father and to know the Father's love. And if fear and if giants and if other kings come and try to destroy me, then I want to go down swinging. I'm not going to sit back and take it and we're not going to lay down in the valley of the shadow of death.
That's the intro. We're moving into point one. Verse three. Verse three says, Jonah did what? Key word. Obeyed. You can circle that. Put a star by it. Hashtag it. Highlight it. Punctuate it. Can't think of it anymore. Jonah obeyed what? The word of the Lord. Oh, what a good place to start. I don't know if God's telling me this. I don't know. Just open up the Bible and obey the word of God. If you want good relationship with God, obey the word of God.
And say, when you have that thing in your life that you know needs to go, you know it needs to go, right? And you don't obey it. It is a, and you know that God loves you and you know, I'm not telling you what it is. You know what it is. If you don't give that up, life is miserable. The Christian life is miserable to be lived at half-mast. The Christian life is absolutely miserable. It's meant to be. It's meant to be miserable.
That if you're trying to serve God and walk with God, but at the same time you want a foot in the world, you want just a little bit of God's, but you're trying to manage your sin and have as much as you, as much as you can, but still like, you know, be with God. I'm not saying that you're not in the battle. That's a different thing. Being in the battle is a different thing. But intentionally compartmentalizing. I was with a man one day and he had left his wife living with his girlfriend and he was telling me, man, I just, I love going to church.
I love my church and I love and he's telling me about all the messages and I just looked across the table at him. I said, bro, still married, kids, living with your mistress and you're telling me about church. How's that work? I just don't understand. Like I'm not, you know, I don't need to judge you because God's judgment is already on things. I don't, you know, we don't need to judge. I disagree with God's judgments.
We don't judge. But I agree. And so I said, how's that work? You know what he said? Thought for a second. He goes, compartmentally. Great answer. You're right. Compartmentally. The Christian life, when you're trying to live it on the, with one foot in the, in the wilderness and one foot in the promised land is miserable and it's absolutely meant to be. And I ask when was a lot. But when was the last time you were fully in and experience the peace that comes with being fully in with nothing on your record before God, not the lies the enemy says, oh, you're a bad person or whatever, but you know that there is nothing in your life that you have not submitted to God.
Do you even know what that feels like? Let me tell you, it's fantastic. Not that I'm always there because I don't live in this angelic world, but as much as possible, what I'm trying to challenge myself to do in a very good season because it's very difficult to follow God when things are going well. It's much easier in the belly of the well. And currently things are going well, which is great, really hard. But challenging myself, can I live fully in, fully invested when things are going well and to sit before God and make a list of 31 kings?
And I'm not talking about just, you know, whip yourself and oh, I'm a horrible person. I'm not talking about shame and guilt, tomfoolery, nice word. And as talking about all that, but actually looking at your life and saying this needs to go. So this is a king that wants to steal my inheritance. And that thing that you're toying with, take it out, just spiritually imagine what that looks like in its fullest. So you have a porn issue, okay, whether you're a woman or a man because it's on the rise with women as well.
Or you have a, you know, take that out and think where that will actually lead you. Take some spiritual imagination and picture where that could actually lead you because I want you to know that that or any other thing or addiction or whatever wants to lead you where? To death completely. And say, is this string willing? Am I willing to let this continue to control me? And then remove it from your life and say, what could my relationship look like?
What could my marriage look like? What could my relationship with my children look like if this thing was removed? And imagine the best you. Imagine what you would be like. And so the challenge to you is to see what it would be like to experience the peace that obedience brings. I gotta say, I've probably lived more of my life in disobedience than obedience. That's actually true. It's not kinda, for sure. But in those moments when I know everything's submitted, I have to say that there is a peace, there is a joy, there is a freedom to pray, there is a courage that transcends anything you will ever experience.
And if you have never for the first time made a decision to follow Jesus and say, I'm willing to walk away from my life, you can do that in your pew right now. You can just say it in your heart right now and begin to follow God. And we wanna give you more opportunities. Jonah obeyed the word of the Lord and went to Nineveh. Disobedience makes you food for whales. It's true. Disobedience will make you food for whales.
Disobedience will lead you and eventually your disobedience will find you out. You can only hide sin so long. God loves to bring things out into the light. Loves it. It's his deal. It says that if you have things in your heart, you know what's gonna happen if you have things in your heart? What is in your heart to do what? The Bible guarantees it'll happen and perhaps you've experienced it. It'll come out of your mouth.
If you wanna know what a person is like in their heart, listen to their mouth. Just spend enough time with them to get beyond where they can kinda like control the circumstances. Get with them in a difficult situation. Get with them in a conversation beyond that where they can control it. You know what's gonna eventually happen? What comes out of their mouth is gonna be what's in their heart. Not that we're gonna judge it, but obedience will change the attitudes of the heart.
Perhaps you know what I'm talking about. Perhaps you've said something and then you said, oh, I didn't mean that. Or perhaps you've said something and you realize where did that come from? One of the things I was challenged with listening to a speaker recently, he says, try to imagine the worst you. We don't like that experiment. It's not fun. But we need to realize that there is no sin that we cannot commit. And if you think that there is a sin that you cannot commit, you're deceiving yourself.
You're not in the right situation. The Auschwitz guards, when they were 14 years old, did not conceive themselves doing the atrocities that they would commit. But how do they get there? One step at a time. I want to say, do obedience for your own life. Try it. Just do a week. I'm just going to challenge you. Just a, let's actually take it back. Let's go for an hour. Okay? Make a list of 31 kings. It's not that hard. 31 things in your life.
These are puppet strings. These want to steal my inheritance. Write down your 31 kings. And even if it doesn't feel true in your heart, say to God, I'm going to give you this for the next hour. And live an hour in that peace and see what it feels like to live in obedience to God. The devil is a liar and wants to let you think that living in disobedience is a better place to be. Obedience is an underrated spiritual weapon that promises exponential return.
Google, search, verses on the blessing of obedience. Now I actually put a footnote in there that you can go for it. Just Google search the Bible on the exponential blessings of obedience. Like if you obey, this will happen, this will happen, this will happen. These are promises of God. And then ask yourself, why am I willing to give up all that for the puppet string that you just dance around on? And by the way, I'm talking to myself.
By the way, I'm preaching to myself. So I can be, you know, preaching to myself. Look up those. Here's just a couple. Provision, Leviticus. If, conditional, conditional. God's love is conditional. It's conditional on if you're willing to receive it. If you walk in my statutes and keep my commands so as to carry them out, then what? I will give you rains in their season. That is a blessing of provision. That means that you can go to God when the chips are down and say, God, you promised me provision.
I am doing what you said. Now, not that we're living according to a book of laws because under the blood of Christ, you have complete righteousness in Christ. It's not by following the laws. But we still, Jesus did not come to obliterate living according to the commands of God. So I gotta tell you how good it is to live without the curse of having to do the law, but yet doing it with under the blood and the grace of Christ.
I'm gonna say, that's a one-two punch that you wanna be at. It says that you will have rains in their season. How about, when I talk about the pesky if, how about abundance? Isaiah 119. If you consent and obey, you will eat the best of the land. I don't know what that exactly means for your life, but God says that he wants to give you his best and his best might not be the American dream version of the best, by the way.
We have a pretty low bar on what the best is, right? Kid graduates college, goes to a good school, gets a good job, 401k, a new car, yada, yada, yada. That, ugh, what a low bar for abundant life. Please, raise the bar. You know what no one can have? Peace. Find somebody that has peace. Go find someone that has, like, this really secure, regular sense of peace that comes from being in a relationship with God. I gotta say, that is better than a Bugatti.
Funny story, non sequitur. I'm with my daughter the other day. But, we're going through scripture. She's talking about fear and I'm talking about killing kings. Because teach your kids how to kill kings early. Because then they'll be able to do it when they get 35. What we do is we teach them how to do really well in school and get a good SAT test. And then they get to 35 and they've never learned how to deal with a giant in their life, like fear, depression, anxiety.
And they fall apart when they're 35 and gotta go to Xanax. Teach your kids how to kill kings early. So I'm talking to my daughter, Lucy. I'm like, you don't want to kill that king of fear and use the sword. It's the sword of the spirit. You have the spirit but the spirit has a sword. And I said, you know, a verse. And she goes like, like what? And I said, well like John 3, 16. And I said, you know, for God so loved the world that gave us all the big guns.
And she starts repeating it with me because Mrs. Kim is great at teaching memory. And I said, God so loved the world that you might have eternal life. And I finished the verse with that and she goes, it'd be better if he added and a Bugatti. It's a 2.1 million dollar car. It's a 10 year old. I thought it was funny. And a Bugatti? Like eternal life and a Bugatti? Okay. So, I laughed is what I said. I couldn't stop that a 10 year old knew what a Bugatti was.
It's $32,000 to change the oil on a Bugatti, I think. Abundance. Isaiah 119. Now here's a New Testament verse because we have Old Testament God and we have New Testament God and they're the same God but we need to reconcile them. So, let me give you a New Testament verse that talks about this love of God that is often found in the belly of the whale. John 14, 21. He who has my what? Commandments. Now this is New Testament God now.
This is post-cross New Testament. He's not throwing the commandments away. Okay? You just don't have to keep all of them in the same way that the Jews did originally before the cross. He who has my commandments and keeps them. It is he who loves me and he who loves me will be what? Loved by the Father. And I will love him or her and manifest myself to them. Keeping God's commandments shows that we love God. We express our love to him.
His unlimited love is there. And the gateway to experiencing the love of God and having God manifest himself to you is by saying God I know under the cross I'm free. I am justified by nothing but faith. But I want to show my love for you by keeping your commands. And when that happens the love of God will be manifested to you. So before you start thinking in the difficulty of the belly of the whale that you might be in before you start thinking God doesn't love me ask yourself this am I keeping God's commands?
If you can say to God I am keeping your commands and I am in the midst of the belly of the whale and you're not showing up then I think you have a right to take issue with God to be angry with God and to look God in the face and say God I am angry you are not showing up and I need you to show up because I am doing everything that I believe that you asked. And I don't think God has a problem with that kind of honesty.
But to besmirch the love of God to live in your own desires to do whatever you want and then to be in the belly of the whale and say it's God's fault bunk. Not something that is biblically accurate. If you want to see the manifested love of God be obedient to his commands. Continuing on we see that the love of God is unlimited but it's not unconditional. Now people always take issue with me for this and I understand it.
I'm just going to challenge you find me in the Bible where it says God's love is unconditional. Find that. The love of the world that the world is presenting right now is unconditional. As long as you do something in the name of love you can do whatever you want. That's unconditional love. God's love is not unconditional. If you can find it in the Bible I dare you. And I've spent hours looking for it. Okay? God's love is unlimited.
It's unconditional in that any sin that you commit that it is unconditional hey no conditions come on in come on in but you need to be willing to accept it and you need to be willing to there is an if that pesky if to receive it's unlimited the amount of God has no you won't know how far it is wide and deep the Bible says but it is not unconditional unconditional it says you need to accept the love that he poured out on the cross and you need to be willing to follow Jesus if you confess with your mouth if you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that what Jesus Christ is Lord you will be what saved the love of God is not unconditional can we stop saying that the love of God is unlimited and it's looking for people that will say I will bow the knee to you because you are the king and I will receive your unlimited love that's a tough truth but it's a good truth if God's love is not unconditional then you're a robot it means that you have no choice in the matter you have no free will not to love God God wants to be in a relationship of choice it is an opposite that allows us it is something that allows us to choose God and to choose his love final point here actually right before I get to that final point and this is just for you because I'm not your dad I know you know that but I don't want to preach like your dad I can't stand a book or a pastor or a preacher who wants to be paternal and point the finger at me and use guilt you can grow a really good church with guilt there's a lot of people that just speak that language you can blow your church up preaching guilt every day if I get into the first chapter and I start smelling getting a whiff of that I don't want a part of it Jesus was always said hey you go do your business and when you're ready to follow me come on back and that's what we want that's what I want to do I want to treat you like children of God that are brothers and sisters with me that have an opportunity and so the question I want you to ask yourself because this is a relationship for you and God is perhaps you have an obedience problem and if you have an obedience problem you have a love problem because the love of God does not manifest itself in disobedience now when we're in disobedience while we were there in sin God still reaches out to us but I'm talking about if you've made a decision to follow Christ and you've decided to live compartmentally then you are going to have a love problem of understanding God's love of resting of having peace and have freedom and perfect love casts out all fear so if you are living in disobedience you're going to have a love problem and if you have a love problem then you're going to have a fear problem you're going to have a problem because perfect love is not going to be able to cast out all fear and you're going to walk in fear crippling fear crippling anxiety crippling all these different things that will cripple us obedience is an underrated spiritual weapon that will allow you to walk in the love of God remember we were trying to get our mortgage on our house in like 2005 or whenever we bought our house and I remember I had like three opportunities to lie on the forms it's really easy to lie and cheat on especially back in like 2004 and 2005 right and I was real hesitant to get a mortgage you know I was like ah you know I don't want to I was just hesitant the one thing I thought was every time there was these three opportunities I even had Christians like well just say this and I'm like people sent me to these Christian people and they said just say this and I'm like no I'm not just going to say that they sent me to the Christian guy and you're telling me to lie I knew this that if push came to shove and the market tank because we were all worried about a bubble back then it was like I don't remember a little bit before 2008 I thought I want to be able to go to God and say God you allowed this you got me into it I did it honestly and I need to call you to provide for me and I didn't want to go to God and say hey I cheated on the records I kind of fudged it a little bit now I got to go to you and have you bail me out I actually wanted to have a really good platform to argue with God in 2008 I was provided that platform and I remember it was you know I had to take a second job from other church and I was doing property management and construction on the side and just trying to make it all work and I remember going to God and thinking you know am I going to lose the you know we went there it was hard we lost a third of our income immediately when in 2008 like in one month a third gone take a third of your income gone and I remember going to God and being able to say you know what I remember three times where I was going to cheat and I didn't this is your deal you need to fix it God fixed it stoked right right I want to say that the ability to go before God with clean hands through the blood of Christ but also not just through the blood of Christ like the blood of Christ didn't cause me to to make a you know not cheat blood of Christ saves me when I do cheat but to go in the blood of Christ with having been obedient that's a good place now if you've messed up God will still rescue you just come and lay yourself before me he loves mercy so you could have been really disobedient to this point and God will say okay I'll fix it because it says in Romans 8 28 that God's love where all things will work together for good for those that love God and are called according to his purpose final thing and we're done we're gonna have communion you never know who will repent until you ask first person I'd ask is you are you willing to repent are you willing got no strings hold me down take a pair of scissors you own the scissors you want to be a real boy I'll be a real girl cut the strings are you willing to repent or do you just love being a puppet it's easy to be a puppet so easy puppets are you ready to repent it's easier to run to to rule a city than it is to rule your own heart we want people of courage that know the love of God are you ready to repent and the next thing once you get your stuff right are you willing to ask anybody else if they are willing to repent you can share the love of God I want to say once you experience the love of God once you live in repentance it is a lot you'll be a lot more excited about sharing the love of God it'll burst out of you it'll overflow the scripture says it'll cause La Jolla Claremont La Mesa the United States the world to be turned upside down if just us in this room just us decided to get it right to get out of the compartmentalization to live in the love of God and let it burst forth in an abundant life I got to say just this group would turn San Diego and beyond upside down I want us to get it right I want us to live in the in in the abundance of God I want us to live in the love of God amen amen let's stand you
