Already turned there. My staff talked me into having someone pre-read the scripture before I preach, so that's why we're doing that now, and I'm allowing it, but there it goes. Great job, Carol. Fantastic. We are talking about spiritual gifts and continuing to do so in a way that I'm trying not to have spiritual gifts be a commodity, meaning you take your spiritual gifts test, we figure out what you are, we use it.
What I want you to do is to figure out what you enjoy doing and go serve God and the power of God and have fun while you're doing it. So we will eventually, next week is our final week of spiritual gifts, I will hand out the spiritual gifts test, you can take it online and figure these things out. But I figure a lot of you, as you listen to these gifts, you're going to see things like, I think that's me, I like to tell people about Jesus, I guess I am an evangelist.
And so you're going to be seeing these things come alive. Now we have these gifted servant cards that you heard about, we'd love you to fill that out according to what you think. By the way, you don't have to be right, you can actually be wrong and just go experiment and have fun and play in the field of God and just enjoy yourself. So I want to encourage you to do that. But what I've been trying to do is show narratives out of scripture where these gifts are being used.
If you quickly look at the back of your notes today, we have the salvation gifts. They are evangelism, they are miracles, they are the gift of tongues, they are missions. And Johanna is being sent out with the gift of missions, and I believe that she does have that, that she goes out. Now, look at the title of the sermon. It's called, Called to Radical Faith, okay?
And it's part seven, which I think is a lot of parts. Please take a pen and scratch out Called to Radical Faith. I retitled the sermon this week, and the new title of the sermon is Jesus is a Unicorn. So use your pen. Jesus is a Unicorn. Please write it down. I don't see people writing. What do you mean Jesus is a Unicorn? He's not a Unicorn.
I even have scriptural backing. If you have a King James Version. It's not about Jesus being a Unicorn. Did you know Unicorns are in the Bible? Raise your hand if you know that Unicorns are in the Bible. Now, raise your hand if you think those people are crazy. All right? All right. Okay. Job 39, 9-2-12. Will, in King James Version, thank you very much.
Didn't know about this. Will the Unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib? Canst thou bind the Unicorn with his band in the furrow? Or will he harrow... Visitors, don't leave yet. Don't leave yet, okay? Don't leave. Lock the doors, Joe. Will he harrow the valleys after thee? Wilt thou trust in that? We're talking about the Unicorn. Because of his great strength, or wilt thou thy labor to him?
Wilt thou believe in him? Believe him that he will bring home thy seed to gather into thy barn. Look it up. King James Version. Unicorn is mentioned. Why do I bring up a Unicorn, and Jesus is a Unicorn? I was at a church growth conference this week, and they were talking about churches and growth, and these churches that are doing multi-site, where they're, you know, putting their, you know, it's kind of like taking their church and putting it in other places, and some of these churches had up to 20,000 people in them, and they were there, and it was so not where we are.
Like, we're a neighborhood church. Why? I was there because they asked me to do some emceeing. I did not belong there, okay? I don't think there was a person there that had a church under 5,000 that didn't have, like, 58 multi-campuses and this whole deal. But this guy got up, and he began to speak about Rick Warren. Now, you know Rick Warren from Saddleback, purpose-driven church.
Chris Brown from North Coast Church, great guy. Love him up in San Marcos. Great church. He got up, and he said, you know, I hear people talking about, when you talk about the growth movement and growing a church, they always bring up Rick Warren. He said, you know, Rick Warren, the story is he started a church with four people in a trailer in a desert, you know, far away in the Arabian desert.
Actually, there was two people. It was just him and his wife. And now there's 58,000 people that are going all over the world and da-da-da. He goes, Rick Warren's a unicorn. He said, that is so rare. He's a unicorn. You can't, he goes, you can't do that. And he says, people will sit there and Rick will speak and they'll take notes. And he says, I think to myself, why are you taking notes?
You can't do that. He says, it's like Michael Jordan coming to you and saying, and doing a class on how to dominate in the NBA. Take notes. Try to do it. You can't do it. He's a unicorn. And I thought, that's so true. We look at these really special people, right? And we look at what they do and we compare ourselves to them. And there's no way. I'm not going to be Rick Warren, okay?
I can look at all these different people. But here's the thing that I think was interesting about Jesus. Here's what's interesting about Jesus. Jesus is the ultimate unicorn. How rare is Jesus, right? How powerful is Jesus, God? How many rad gifts can, think about Jesus. Would you ever want to compare yourself to Jesus? Like, who'd want that guy as a best friend?
You know what I mean? It's like, oh, if you're healing the sick again, thanks a lot. You know? Compare. Contrast. Here's the difference with Jesus. Because he is the ultimate unicorn. Meaning somebody that's just rare in their field. Whatever that field is, they stand out. They're the unicorn. You'll never be like that. Jesus says, you can be like me.
And he says, you will actually do greater things than I. Think about that. Do you see that model? Well, we live in a world that currently wants to highlight people to the top of the apex and say, you know what? They are so unique. They are so different. You will never be like them. You know, whether it be Whitney Houston with her voice or whatever it is.
I'm dating myself now, back into the 80s, which I will, if you're in brand new, 80s come up a lot. Do you realize that Jesus, the most rare individual to ever walk the face of the earth, the most talented, gifted, amazing individual, he's the ultimate unicorn. So rare. You'll never see him. You'll never be like that. But Jesus says this. You can be like me.
As a matter of fact, you will do greater things than I. You know, I think we need to get in touch with that. That Jesus says that the things that I am doing, the impact that I am having, you can have greater impact than that. To become like Jesus. To begin to where you go, to represent Jesus. Where you, the congregation, become the star. One of the things that I really want to do with this church is stay away from the model with what, the stage is the star.
Where the stage becomes the star. Whether it be the speaker, whether it be the worship, or the mission of the church. A lot of times what the church is doing, it's like three things. It's your worship leader, it's your speaker, and it's the mission of the church. We're building 12,000 wells in Saudi Arabia, or whatever it is. We're doing these things.
And then the mission of the church becomes the star, becomes the hero of the story. And I think it's so easy to have this model where you as a congregate can come back, and we just ask you to stand there in awe. Just take a look at what's happening with this church. Look what's happening on stage. Listen to the songs we write. And you stand there in awe, but then again, the church and the stage becomes the unicorn.
And you'll never be a unicorn. They're too rare. Here's our model. It's the model of Jesus. Jesus, you're the unicorn. Okay? Can unicorns have eggs? Do they lay eggs? Anybody know that? I was thinking this in the water yesterday. I thought, I hope this analogy works. If Jesus is the ultimate unicorn, he wants to reproduce himself. And I want to say this.
The congregation, like we said in worship, you, you're the hero of Jesus' story. Now, our job is to make Jesus famous as a sent people. We're going to see that. He sends them out. But does he send them out to be a lesser version of himself? I'm not telling you that a Messiah complex. He's sending you out. Congregation, you're the hero of Jesus' story.
He applauds you. He wants to be with you. He wants to go where you go. He wants wherever your feet, wherever you put your feet, he wants to rip the fabric of the kingdom of heaven and splash it around at your feet. That wherever you go as a sent one, that you will be like Jesus. That you will be bringing the kingdom of God. That wherever you put your feet are the crossroads of earth and the kingdom of heaven.
That you go forth. And that's it. And I don't want to say we want to be, we are a congregational church. And I want to say that what is happening at this church is you. That's it. We are not, if we become the star, if the stage becomes the star, if what we do in missions, we, we, the Samaritan Purse stuff we do, whatever it is. If that becomes what people talk about when they talk about this church, we're missing it.
When people talk about this church, and what I regularly hear is this. I hear them talk about you. You guys are hashtag winning. Okay? Crushing it. Hashtag crushing it. When I hear, I, many of you are visitors. And, and I talk to you as you come in and I ask you, how did you hear about us? Well, I heard about this church. I heard what's going on. I heard there's amazing people.
I hear there's a lot of love. I hear there's a lot of hope. We've got to stay there. And if you ever see the stage or the mission start becoming the star, please come and slap me. Well, don't slap me. Okay? Okay. But please come and say, look, I think we're losing focus. And I will, I want to listen to you. And I want to say that, that we're losing focus on you being who Jesus has called you to be.
There is no model. We have a replicable model. Whatever we do, we want you to do it. Because Jesus came forth with a replicable model. And then he gives us gifts to, to use to do them. So look at the scripture right here. If you look at verse five, here's the first thing we're going to see in this scripture. Now I preached through verse eight last week.
But we're going to go all, we're going to, I left it in there. We're going to go all the way through verse 15. But in verse five, we see this in the scripture. That we are a sent people. That God sends you out. Are you living? Do you realize that? You are a sent people. The number one thing that Jesus does with his apostles when he leaves is not to cloister them together, but it's to send them.
And that's when we prayed for Sue, we sent her. That's when we prayed for Johanna, we sent her. And that's when I pray for you at the end of the service to go back to your job tomorrow, to go back to your teaching position, to go back to whatever it is you do, to your day off. Maybe tomorrow is your day off and you get to go hang out at a coffee house or go surfing into the water.
Or you're going to go to a retirement community to visit an elder parent. Wherever you go, go sent. Always live on mission sent. It doesn't mean that you have to feel like you're on mission. It doesn't mean that you have to feel that the feelings have to match the commission. Let me say that again. Your feelings don't have to match the commission.
Jesus still sends you. That we are still a sent person, whether you're depressed, whether you're angry, whether you're upset. You might have to gather yourself before you go in. But to walk in and say, regardless of how I feel, that I'm going to go as a sent person. We want to be a sent church. And so every week, our model is that you are an extension of Christ.
You are an extension of this community. And the body of Christ is a community with unity. And we send you out. Part of this church conference I went to was all about multi-siting. It's taking La Jolla Christian Fellowship and putting one in PB and having maybe a video screen where they would show the message and have worship. I don't care what the model is.
Okay? Of how we do it. There's a million models. As long as they're Christ-centric, I think they can work. Because it says in the scripture, not dedicate what plans to God, but dedicate your plans to God. And he will cause them to what? Succeed. He didn't tell you exactly how to do it. There's a million different models. The model currently here is you're the multi-site.
That when we send out La Jolla Christian Fellowship, I don't, we're currently are not doing a church in PB with a video and a worship team. Who knows what God will have for us in the future. I don't see that. The model is this. You're the multi-site. We send you. And I'm so encouraged that 200 of us, every Sunday, I mean, it's a big deal when I bless you and send you out.
And I believe that when I'm sending you, we're sending you to be a fragrant offering into the world. I was with two friends yesterday. No, I was at this place recently, a local restaurant. And there was a woman behind the counter. And I've been praying for her and her partner for 10 or 12 years. And we always talk, life, music, whatever. And we were there.
And she said for the first time, we got our coffee, Carrie and I, we're getting ready to walk out. And she's there with her partner. And they're working together in the shop. And she says, we're going to come to your church. I said, out of nowhere. I mean, 10, 12 years of how you're doing, how's the surf, how's the weather. 10 or 12 years. I was walking out the door.
I said, stop. That hooked me, right? I thought, okay, right on. So I stop and I walk by. I said, that would be, I said, that would be great. She goes, she goes, yeah, we would love to come to your church. And then she looks at her partner and she goes, are we Christian? It's a great question. I think we should ask ourselves that question on a regular basis.
Because we've been saved, we're being saved, and we will be saved. It's a process. It's a journey. We're constantly renewing our faith. And she says, are we Christians? And then she goes, I don't know. Maybe she goes, I don't think we're Christians. No, we're not Christians. But I'm fascinated at this point. I'm like, I'm on board. The train is moving.
I don't know where the conductor is taking us, but I'm loving this conversation. After 12 years. And she says, but we're very spiritual. We're spiritual, right? Yeah, we're spiritual. We're going to come to your church. I said, I'll make a deal with you. I come in here about every day. I said, I'll come in. You come once for every 200 times I come in, okay?
That's about three times a year. Pow. 12 years. It's conversation, coffee, talking. How are you doing? What's up? Boom. All of a sudden. I didn't even initiate it. We're coming to your church. I thought, just show up. Sent. I rarely, I won't say never. I rarely go there without knowing I'm sent there. Matter of fact, it's becoming part of my DNA. And hopefully it'll become a part of yours.
Where you never go anywhere without realizing your scent. Now let me, oh gosh, I shouldn't tell a fail. Pastors always tell their good stories. I gotta tell a bad one. We went out to dinner last night and I wanted, my wife and I shared a burger. And I'm not going to share it. I was a fail. My cheese didn't come on the burger the way I wanted. I was upset.
It wasn't great. And then the lady goes, you're the pastor of that church right now. I was like, oh! You want to know what I said? You do want to know what I said? Holy Spirit said not to tell you, but I'm going to tell you. No, he didn't tell me that. It wasn't that big of a deal. I wanted cheese on half the burger. We can't put cheese on half the burger.
We can only put it on half. And I said, putting cheese on half a burger is not rocket science. Oh, that's really bad, isn't it? And it was like dead science. And my wife looked at me like, rocket science, really? So when the lady, she was really funny because it ended up really good. And the lady, she says to me, she goes, yeah, you're the pastor of the church.
I said, no, I'm a rocket scientist. It's going to be 20 years before she tells me she'll come to church. Really? It's not rocket science? Really, Adam? I'm like, I've been with junior hires for a whole 24 hours. So give me a little bit of a break. We all fail, right? Even Judas got all the gifts here to go out and go do that stuff. So I'm not a Judas, but we worked it out and it was awesome.
Be willing to tell your fails. Fail. We're not only sent. Verse 6. Who are we sent to? Circle the word lost. Are we Christians? Christians? I don't know. That's lost. We're spiritual. What does that mean? I don't know what that means. I mean, a lot of the world now, I mean, a Buddhist is less lost than that because they're figuring it out. They're on the map, but we don't know where we are on the map.
We're sent to a lost people. And I was with this pastor and he was, they were saying some things about how they were sending out. And he says, we want to get our DNA. And they were in Knoxville, Tennessee, and we have this mission in Thailand. And we want to get our DNA in Thailand. And I approached him on that and I said, really? You know, Thailand needs the DNA of Knoxville or La Hoya or, you know, because I'm kind of roiling a little bit against the colonialization model.
And I was pushing back. It was a conversation time. He says, they don't know Jesus. I said, well, if that's the DNA, then yes, I agree. He said, we need to be in the dark places of the world. He says, there's people there that wear their ancestors' spirits around their neck. Yes, they do need our DNA. And the more he was talking, I was on the train again.
I'm like, whoo, whoo, I'm the conductor. Yes. They need our DNA. People are lost. Watch TV for a while. Just lost. Let me tell you, is it arrogant to say that Jesus is our only hope? Perhaps. Is it true? Yes. And maybe it's how you say it. Just don't tell them, you know, anything about rocket science when you tell them, you know? Lost people. Jesus sends them out to a lost people.
If you can keep that on the tip of your tongue, at the front of your mind, that the world is lost. That the hope of the world is the gospel. That we are sharing the gospel on a regular basis. Regardless of our feelings, living as a sent people. You are a sent people sharing the hope of the world. We're storytelling people. I love this. How do you tell your story?
As you go, it says, proclaim the message. The kingdom of heaven has come near. As you go, the scripture says above. As you go. Jesus says, as you're living your life, you're telling the story. The story that I told with the woman and her partner. It's a story that took 10 years for me to tell and I'm still telling it. And I might have told it as I talked about surfing.
It might have just been a smile. It might have been, as we talked about a few weeks ago, about David Bowie. Who knows what I was talking about. But I was doing it intentionally to wind a story together. And what was interesting is that this woman was the one to come and give the next line of the story. I was walking out. Carrie and I, we had a cup of coffee.
We're walking out and they stopped me and says, we're coming to your church. She wrote the next line of the story. And I was like, bingo. We are sent. We are sent to a people. And we're a storytelling people. John Wesley said this. John, I don't know if it's going to be up on the screen, but it's in your notes. And untold millions are still untold.
That's what he said. John Wesley said this. Untold millions. He says, there are untold millions in the world. Untold millions. And they talk about that. There was a song about the untold millions. And then he came and he said, but the untold millions are still untold. Are you telling the story? Tell the story. You know, Chris, he's a middle school teacher.
You know, in Santee, he works with the surf team here in La Jolla. He's telling the story. How does he tell the story? You tell it with your life. It's not all words. But the untold millions are still untold. And we have to be sent to tell a story on mission, on point, living as a sent people. And if you're going to come to this church, our DNA is going to live as sent people.
Telling a story that is a true story, that is a good story, that says hope lives on this corner. And hope lives on the corner of my heart. Have you seen what we put on the bulletin out the front, the red sign? It says hope lives on this corner. And so what we want to do is we want to embed hope into the corner of our heart. And if that has become sullied and dark and gray with weeds growing and cracks in the corner of your heart of that little sidewalk, I want to say bring the blood of Jesus in there and beautify it.
And let hope reign. Because hope does not fail and hope does not disappoint. Because hope reigns. And so we see that. We're a sent people. We're storytelling people. Who are the untold millions in your life? Think of that old untold person. How are you going to begin to tell them? Verse 8. We're kingdom bringing people. I love this. Power of the kingdom.
And we said last week, we asked you to think about heaven. When you just imagine heaven and then take the fabric of heaven and spin it. Spin the fabric of heaven into the yarn of your life. You begin to take joy and peace and hope and love and care and compassion and joy and a smile. And just the way you walk. Just the way you carry the things that you read.
Your presence out. That we are taking heaven and we're letting it invade the corner of our heart so we can invade the corner where you live. Yeah, this church is committed to this corner. This church is committed to this area. But we are also committed to seeing you change the world where you live. In PB, in Carmel Valley, in UTC. As you go to the island of Lesbos to work with Syrian refugees.
As you go to Mexico with Joe Brandy on his trips. As you do brain surgery with David Levy in UCSD. And on and on. Or if you're a plumber or an electrician. Or a stay-at-home mom. Or a stay-at-home dad. Or you're at UCSD. Put your name and put your story wherever it is there. Sow hope into the fabric. Into the yarn of your life. The hope of heaven. Know what it looks like.
How do we know what it looks like? We change the channel. If you're spending too much time listening to stuff that just doesn't. News, talk radio. Put worship on. Just change the channel. If you're spending time watching sitcoms that don't matter. Binge watching. Take an hour of that time. And just put on the scripture. There's so many audio scriptures you can listen to.
Let it invade your heart. The scripture is powerful. It says it's alive. It's actually living. Surround your life with it and see how it changes. You know, pray. Pray. Just talk to God. Thank him. God, you're here. Change the corner of my heart. If you change the corner of your heart, there's no way that the corner you live on won't be changed. It will happen.
It's transcended in that way. We're a kingdom bringing people. And God says, bring the kingdom. Pray for the sick. If someone says that they're sick, maybe you start out and you say, you know what? I'm a praying person. I'm going to pray for you. And then go back and check in with them. Or maybe there'll even be a moment where you'll step out and say, hey, there's no one around.
Do you mind if I pray for you right now? I'm just going to. I've never had a person say no to me. Never. Never once had a person say no. Now, some of you have other stories of that. But when I ask to pray, people want prayer. Well, you know what prayer is full of? Four-letter words. Start with H. Hope. Hope. Prayer. Be a person that people know you pray.
You ever seen a golfer? You know they golf. They wear the funny pants, the white shoes, you know. Oh, Zach, you are a golfer. I am a golfer. You are, buddy. I can golf with style. He said he can golf with style. You know what people are into. Let people know you're into prayer. Doesn't mean you're slaying them in the street. Just let them know, hey, I've got a need.
I'm going to go to that person because I know that they pray. Prayer is full of hope. I love David Robinson's story. He's praying in bird rock on the streets with his coworkers. Just stepped out one day. Next thing you know, he said yes, and he's praying in the sunlight in bird rock on the street. Wow. It's powerful. You're the hope, church. You're the hero of Jesus' story.
Now, we make him famous. You're a sent one to make him famous. But isn't your kid your hero? My children are my hero. I want to grow up to be like my daughters. They're rad. Jesus feels that way about you. You're his beloved. He looks at you and he applauds. Although we think that he pulls, you know, pulls out this big spanker and a belt to take us behind the woodshed every time we, you know, go talk to God.
He's not like that. He doesn't hate you. He's not mad at you. The anger and the curse that was over us, he died on the cross to resolve. You know, there is no more anger towards the believer. It's impossible for him to be angry at you because Christ died over the curse of God and the judgment that was upon you. You live in grace. You live in hope.
And so that these things, that's why guilt no longer exists for the believer. You can source it for your life if you want. But it doesn't exist because Jesus died for your guilt. He died for your shame. There is no shame. And the scripture in the Old Testament says that shame will end up in hell. There's no place for it in your life. You are God's beloved.
He clapped when he hears your name. Even though when we sin, does it have effects in our lives? Yeah, we want to live holy. But even in the midst of our brokenness, when we're in the midst of actually breaking things in our life, you're God's hero. He loves you. You're still his favorite. He cares for you. And to walk with that, imagine if you walk in that identity, that you're a beloved child of God, you're a son of God, you're a daughter of God.
Imagine walking into a room like that because it's not entitled, it's endowed. There's a difference between entitlement. Entitlement is I deserve this. I should have this. And endowment is completely different. It just is. I don't deserve it. It already is. I shouldn't have that entitlement when it doesn't get the front parking spot. It's angry that it doesn't get the front parking spot.
Endowment doesn't get the front parking spot. And it thinks, I'm a son of the king. I'm a daughter of the king. Who cares about parking spots? There's a difference between entitlement and endowed. And you are endowed with the love of God. The kingdom of heaven is rich and it is all over you. And God crowns you every day with his love and his joy.
And he applauds and you're his hero. And we've got to get that every day because the world and the enemy will pound you down over and over that you are worthless. You are no good. You failed God again. On and on and on. And God loves you so much. And that's the story. Imagine if you walked out these doors with that on your mind. With that on your face.
I've got to remind myself multiple times a day. Because it just leaks. It's just like a balloon. It just goes. It doesn't take too much. You know, I could have sat there yesterday and said, yeah, I'm such an idiot. I'm trying to win La Jolla for Christ. And I said the most stupid, arrogant, lame thing to that server. Or I can gather myself. I don't have to feel guilt.
Go back and start conversation again. And by the end we were just laughing and it was funny and it was great. Apologize and move on. Or I could just, oh, I'm human. Oh, when am I going to stop being human? Ascent people. A kingdom bringing people. Your mission is to make every place you go feel more like heaven. Starting with your own heart. Starting with your own heart.
I ask you this. Making God sovereign everywhere you go. Dedicating it unto him. Here's these four gifts. Five gifts. And then I have the worship team come up. Gift to evangelism. Look at it right here. The gift to evangelism is the ability to boldly share the message of salvation in a way that is clear, concise, and effective. Do you like telling people about Jesus?
Go tell them. And the more you do it, see if that gift doesn't increase. Who has been faithful with little will be given what? More. Be faithful with it. If you don't have that gift and you want it, go after it. We're all called to share the gospel. Whether you have the gift of evangelism or not. Some might be more effective, but there's a great joy.
And share it. You don't have to pull out his four spiritual laws, but you might. It might be 12 years going into a store. It might, who knows? But every day, share the love of Christ. Be an evangelist. If you're excited about evangelism, put that on your card. We're going to be training evangelists. Put that on the gifted servant's card. Let us know.
Faith. Oh, love faith. Faith is a strong belief in the promises and purposes of God. It's the ability to believe in the things that are unseen. And Hebrews 11 calls faith a substance. You know, faith seems like this, like, invisible thing. Faith, it's out there somewhere. I just believe in nothingness. The Bible says that faith is eternal. And anything that is eternal is more real than something that will pass away.
So faith actually is more real than this pew. Because this pew will pass away, but faith never will. It's eternal. And so it has more substance. It has more value. And it says that faith is an eternal substance. Faith. Believing in what you cannot see. Believing with hope. Faith and hope combined. If you've stopped believing in something, go back to God and source your faith.
You know where we get our faith from? Think about the man with the demon-possessed son. They would throw himself into the fire. He said, heal my son. And in the end he says, give me faith. He says, I don't have the faith for it. Give me faith to believe. If you don't have the faith, let me tell you where to start. One simple prayer. Give me faith. I don't have faith for my marriage.
I don't have faith for my career. I don't have faith. God, give me faith. Faith, faith, faith. God, give me hope. Let me believe again. Let hope rise up within you. For hope does not disappoint. Miracles, I love them. They happen all over the place. I don't have the faith not to believe in miracles. I don't know what they'll look like. But step out in power.
And pray for the sick. However you want to do it. Just believe. It's up to God whether he wants to do a miracle or not. It's not you. It's just saying, God, look, this person's sick. I know you love people. You want to heal the brokenhearted. I just pray for the sick. You know, a lot more people are going to be healed when you pray for the sick than when you don't.
Pray for the sick. And even if they're not healed, there's a hope that comes with prayer where they'll begin to be healed on the inside. You see, healing goes on in multiple levels. We have miracles. I'm not going to do a whole thing on how to do a miracle, what to do a miracle, and focus on that. Just think beyond the natural and ask God to move.
Whether it be a miracle for finance, whatever it would be. We talk about tongues. Tongues is a revelation. We're probably at one point are going to speak about tongues. It can be a controversial gift. I believe in tongues. I speak in tongues. In prayer. Lots of different understandings. But one of the ways we see it in the first century church is people sharing in a language that they didn't know beforehand.
And then people being able to hear that and hear the gospel through that. There's also another way where people will share up and share a language of heaven that the scripture speaks about. And that God is multilingual and there are languages in heaven. Jesus is called what? The what? Word. And so we believe that there are languages in heaven. And part of the belief in this speaking in tongues is that there are languages in heaven.
And sometimes he will make people privy to them for the purpose of sharing revelation to the church that is beyond human language. That's the point. It's pretty simple. I've seen it effectively and when effectively done and within order, I've seen it be incredibly effective and walked in that. And if you don't believe in that, totally cool. Hang out here.
You know, you're not going to be ostracized. This is a gift that the Bible says will what? Pass away. We're never going to divide the church on things that are non-eternal. Okay? Never divide the church over things that are non-eternal. Tongues is non-eternal. It is a thing. If you want to use it, you want to step into it and go for it. If you don't, just bless others who do as long as we can do it in order.
And then finally, missions. I love missions. You're on mission. Being on point is a sent people. Pray for a gift of missions. Missions doesn't have to be Africa. Missions can be Girard Street. Missions can be La Jolla Elementary. That way. Sent on mission. Sent by God. Jesus is the ultimate unicorn, but he says, I want you to be like me. Go out and change the world.
Let's stand as we have the worship come forward. Go out and change the world. Go out and change the world. Go out and change the world. Go out and change the world. Go out and change the world. Go out and change the world. Go out and change the world. Go out and change the world. Go out and change the world. Go out and change the world. Go out and change the world.
Go out and change the world. Go out and change the world. Go out and change the world. Go out and change the world. Go out and change the world. Go out and change the world. Go out and change the world. Go out and change the world. Go out and change the world. Go out and change the world. Go out and change the world. Go out and change the world. Go out and change the world.
